Overview: Zhu Yun Ming is touted as one of the four most gifted individuals of Wuzhong (now known as Suzhou), alongside Tang Yin, Wen Zheng Ming and Xu Zhen Qing. Blessed with unusual intelligence, Zhu was able to write characters up to a foot in size at age 5 and by age 9, he could compose literature works already. His exceptional writing flair would later polish him into a super-talented scholar. He mastered his small-character calligraphy script writing skills from the works of Zhong Yao and Wang Xi Zhi. Zhu’s calligraphy style is precise and carefully constructed. The strokes are solid. His ‘Cao Shu’ (cursive and swiftly calligraphy writing) was inspired by Huai Su and Huang Ting Jian. Works of his later life carry a profile of robust strokes and witty rendition, thus commanding high regard among scholars. ‘Luo Shen Fu’ is believed to be a masterpiece produced by him at the age of 40. His calligraphy legacy has made its presence felt until today, where the ‘Cao Shu’ and ‘Xing Kai’ calligraphy patterns found in his ‘Luo Shen Fu’ are enjoying a big following. Overall, Zhu’s calligraphy captures your heart with his distinctive presentation in terms of fluidity, seamlessness, alignment, font selection and artistic profile, with a natural flair for calligraphy.
